Crafting in the Wintery spirit…

All this cold weather and the flurries of snow (don’t forget we had a dusting the other day!) has gotten me in the Christmas mood.

I am a newbie on the sewing machine so I have been working with lots of fabric scraps so I don’t waste the good stuff (which I haven’t had the nerve to buy yet).
I bought some remnant white fleece and cut out some snow people. I tediously hand stitched them because I thought the blanket stitch was really cute and I haven’t figured out how to get the sewing machine to do it for me. I made each one different outfits (hat and scarf) and gave them cute little faces with fabric paint and blush.
It was really easy to do, on heavy paper just trace a frosting lid for the head and a cd for the body for the snowkids and for the big ones, I used a cd for the head and one of Cordelia’s toy buckets for the body. Make sure they overlap a little so they connect. Then just stitch them together (rights facing out) with the blanket stitch leaving an inch open to stuff with fiber fill, finish stitching it closed, paint the faces, let them dry then add the little scarf from scraps and if you have enough to make a little hat with, just make 2 matching half circles, and sew them right sides together around the curvy part and then leave the straight part un-sewn since you will turn it right side out and that will be where the head goes. VOILA!

This is what you get!Snow Family
