This Christmas day, a few members of our church Grace Community Church, cooked and delivered 120 meals for those less fortunate in our little Winchester Virginia community. We even handed out toys that were donated for the families with children because everyone needs to have Christmas, no matter what.
The Winchester Star newspaper came out because we are trying to spread the word of our little soup kitchen.

My husband Ben, his mom Martha and I are the cooks. We dont have the necessary kitchen utensils or cookware. We are using standard size cookware from our own kitchen, on an industrial sized stove, but we are serving on a large scale! On a “normal” day, we are cooking about 75 meals. On Special Occasions, like this past Thanksgiving, we cooked up 178 turkey dinners! Yesterday on Christmas, we cooked 120 meals of ham and all the fixin’s. We dont always know what we are cooking until a day or two before. The food is donated by the food bank, from money given by some of the members of our church, and Hunters for the Hungry donates venison. We try to cook meals that we would serve in our own home. We don’t serve anything that we wouldn’t eat ourselves.
I am so proud to be a part of this and I am so proud of the people who come out and give their time and love to those who are less fortunate in our community.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Blessings,
Synamon
