True Life: I’m Homeschooled
Over a million American young people are home-schooled. But for those of us who aren’t, home-schooled kids can seem mysterious, and what we don’t know about them we fill in with myths and stereotypes. On this episode of True Life, we’ll show what it’s really like to be home-schooled — the good and the bad — and we’ll help break some of those myths and stereotypes.

Are you or a friend home-schooled and have a great story to tell? Do you have a particularly interesting home-schooling situation that you just wish everyone could see? Or maybe you’re having trouble getting into the college of your dreams because your class rank is “1 out of 1″? Are you going to a homeschool prom? Are you about to start or stop homeschooling?

If you appear to be between the ages of 14 and 18 and can relate to any of the above questions, please send an e-mail to tlhomeschool@gmail.com. Please describe your homeschooling story and include your name, location, phone number, e-mail address and a photo.

It’s that time of year. All the public schools are back in session here in the Winchester Virginia area. Most of us homeschoolers have started back up too. Some never even stop; they homeschool year round!

We had a busy year this past 2007-2008 year at The ApplePeel. Lots of parties, park days, bowling days, and field trips! Don’t forget our first ever curriculum swap and show & tell!

New things are on the horizon for The ApplePeel. Our group has grown leaps and bounds over the past few months and we have had to do a lot of reorganizing and expanding to make everyone feel at home. Our message forums has a new look, our website got a fresh clean user friendly makeover and now we have this awesome blog!

Seeing this little homeschool group grow is like watching a little apple tree grow. It starts out small, kind of like Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree, but with all the careful planning, pruning, and finding the right amount of love and patience, it grows into a big beautiful tree that will provide support with its deep roots, encouragement with its strong branches, and knowledge with the fruit it bears.

So dont sit under the Apple Tree with anyone else but Us!

I will be updating the links on the right with cool places to check out under the Blog Roll section (the links under the calendar). Anytime I find a new blog thats really cool, I will stick the link under one of the categories. I try to classify them for easier browsing.

If you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear them. (Please keep it G rated.. this is a homeschool family oriented site so there could be kids standing at our elbows reading along with us!) We especially love anything that has to do with homeschooling or our wonderful little town in Virginia, Winchester!
